Restoration
Heritage
The French and European instrumental heritage includes among its finest pages instruments of incomparable musical richness — voices that time does not silence, provided one knows how to hear and preserve them.
Approach
Restoring a piano is far more than bringing it back into working order. It means understanding what it was, respecting what it is, and restoring its full expressive capacity — without betraying its soul.
I restore grand pianos of all eras, from 1800 to the present day. Each intervention is carried out with the rigour of a craftsman who builds his own instruments — a rare standard that guarantees absolute consistency between diagnosis, bespoke parts and the final result.
Landmark reference
A Pleyel 1bis of 243 cm from the early 20th century — one of the great concert grands from the Parisian manufacturer — completely restored and fitted with an entirely bespoke new action.
This intervention restored the precision and responsiveness of a contemporary instrument without altering its original musical character. A concrete demonstration of what a craftsman's rigour brings to restoration: every part designed, dimensioned and machined for this specific instrument.
Types of intervention
Assessment of the structural, mechanical and sonic condition. Identification of necessary interventions and those best preserving the instrument's authenticity.
Restoration, manufacture or reconstruction of actions using the workshop's CNC milling machine, precise to a hundredth of a millimetre. Every part dimensioned for the instrument.
Structural repairs, regluing, reconstruction of original parts — in keeping with the species and techniques of the instrument's era.
Restringing, soundboard work, assessment of bars — interventions carried out with the sensitivity of a craftsman attentive to the final sonic result.
Work on the instrument's voice — balance between registers, restoration of original timbre, adaptation to the commissioner's requirements.
Restoration of the case, keyboard and pedals — according to the degree of authenticity desired by the owner or institution.

One of the great concert grands from the Parisian manufacturer, in its most accomplished version. This instrument underwent a complete restoration: action entirely remade to order at the workshop, restringing, complete voicing.
Result: the precision and responsiveness of a contemporary instrument, with the sonic character of a period Pleyel intact. A concrete demonstration of what a craftsman's rigour brings to restoration.

Concert grand from the Blüthner manufacture, 230 cm, vintage 1901. A prestigious instrument completely restored at the workshop — from the internal structure to the external finish, every element treated with the rigour of a full manufacture.
A distinctive feature: a new lid was made with Indian Rosewood veneer on the underside, giving the instrument an exceptional visual identity. The action is entirely new; the original keyboard has been preserved.
Philosophy
“Whatever I do, whatever the instrument,
above all I seek the beauty of sound.”
